Terms and Conditions

All bookings are taken on the understanding that the following terms and conditions are adhered to in full for all circumstances by the client. A confirmed booking is an agreement that the client will abide by ‘TravelHorse’s’ following terms and conditions. A paper copy will be provided for the client to sign on the day of travel.

1. You the owner are responsible for your horse at all times and liable for any damage caused by your horse during transport. You are also responsible for any items you wish to travel in the horse box with your horse. You may inspect the horse box for damage before loading and again when unloaded at the destination.

2. Prior to transport you must produce your horse’s passport and your own proof of identification.

3. We advise that your horse be insured although this is not a requirement to travel with ‘TravelHorse’.

4. It is the responsibility of the owner to prepare the horse for travel, and it is entirely the owner’s decision to dress the horse as they wish. We transport the horses as they are given to us. We do advise that during travel your horse wears either travel bandages or boots and a tail bandage or guard. We also advise the horse travel in either a sweat sheet and surcingle or a fleece cooler rug. We can provide a head collar and lead rope.

5. TravelHorse will take every precaution to ensure your horse has a smooth, safe and easy ride. If you are not travelling with your horse, the driver must have a contact number should anything occur during transport eg traffic delays, so that communication is always maintained to avoid worry on your part.

6. Only passengers over the age of 18 can accompany the driver.

7. TravelHorse cannot be held responsible for traffic conditions. The driver is not held responsible for the uloss of entry fees or any other expenses lost in the event of delays due to traffic conditions.

8. When the initial booking is made, a time, place and destination shall be agreed upon. If you require the driver to wait for a return trip, inform us at the time of booking as additional fees will apply.

9. Your driver reserves the right to refuse to transport your horse should your horse become unsettled/distressed or shows signs of illness, (unless the horse is being transported to the vets for the condition) before or upon loading. The emergency call out and mileage fee will still be charged.

10. ‘TravelHorse’ reserves the right to refuse to continue to transport the horse once loaded or during the journey, if we believe that it cannot be transported safely without risk to the horse, the horse box, or our staff, a cancellation fee will still be chargeable. Should it be necessary to unload the horse at an alternative location, the owner will be fully responsible to pay all stabling and veterinary fees, all costs must be settled in full before the horse is released to the owner. It will then be the owner’s responsibility to organise the further movement of the horse.

11. Should the loading of the horse not be possible due to your horse not cooperating then the minimum fee will stand.

12. Should your horse take longer than 30 minutes to load then additional charges will be added to the final total at £15 per hour pro rata.

13. Should your horse be difficult to load please let us know as we may need to arrive slightly earlier to avoid delays.

14. All veterinary costs or additional stabling, in excess of that included in the journey, must be covered by the owner. Should your horse require urgent veterinary attention in our opinion, and the owner is not contactable, we reserve the right to contact a vet on your behalf, however, the owner will still remain under all circumstances entirely responsible for all the veterinary or emergency charges incurred.

15. We can carry a limited amount of tack or rugs with your horse, but the insurance of these items is your responsibility and we will not be held liable for any loss or damage.
